Patrol Sighting!

Really old stuff that got saved. Here are the old Nissan Patrol Club America messages from the 'General' category. Warning, it's dusty in here!

Patrol Sighting!

Post by npca-alex »

About 2 weeks ago we were watching that show called Adventure Bound on the Travel Channel about that Australian guy (Audie Mangers? sp.?)who goes travelling everywhere and is just nuts.  It was the episode where he shows up to find his Caravan as he called it (camper trailer) pushed over a cliff.  Anyway, in this episode he was driving a Patrol!  The sad news is the Patrol didn't even last the whole episode, he totalled it!  He was driving it at night running along side a kangaroo when out of no where he nails a power line post head on at 55 mph!  He goes back at daylight with another truck to tow away the wrecked KL60 and survey the damage.  He proclaimed it was totalled but commented on the sturdiness of the vehicle because realistically, considering the accident, the damage was low.  The hood, radiator, front bumper, and grille was pushed in more than a foot (who knows what damage was done in the engine compartment) but the frame held up great he said.  It was just cool, I guess you would have had to have seen it.  Keep looking for that show, they'll play that epsode again sometime.  If you see a Patrol on T.V. post it here, we'll keep a watch :)

Yeah I saw part of that same episode. I was really bummed that they wrecked the patrol. Sure didn't look hurt all that much as they rolled it back to their camp or whatever on all four wheels. I guess that was befor crumple zones! I have never seen another 60 series patrol on tv. Well, at least excluding the Nissan dream garage add, but that doesn't really count. Anyways, hopefully we can find out the name of that particular episode and figure out when they'll play it again.

Well I was just watching a horrible movie called "The Time Guardian" only good thing was loads of Patrols. I think the movie description placed it in Aussie. And just the other day, while driving from Colorado to California I spotted a Patrol that was used as a daily driver somewhere in the south western area of Coorado.;;Dave

Check out Crocodile Dundee. The part in the movie when the drunk yobbo's go spot lighting for kangaroos , one of their vehicles is a 60 series Patrol. If I remember it had 3 wipers and two lamps per fender making it a 1976 or newer truck. Look for it next time it is on TV. The Duck.

George of the Jungle (Brenden Frasier version). Just after George is shot by Lyle they pull up to the police station and the police vehicle is a KL60 Patrol.

Has anyone considered checkin' out those classic Godzilla flicks?  I'm very sure of having sighted Patrols during the show(s), even before ever owning one. Just last night I caught the last minute of the original B/W       "Gamera" movie: You'll notice the little Japanese boy (seen in every movie) standing and waving goodby. Right behind him is what appears to  be the passenger side (to us) of a true blue Patrol. It clearly shows the  dash and windshield. With all those Godzilla type movies out there, it would not be hard to compile a sighting registry based on this series alone!                                                                             Martin
