General question on how easy to work on a 60s patrol?

Hello new to the forum, thanks! I am in the market but wanted honest opinions on how easy are they to work on? Parts I understand can be tricky, but if have parts can a novice work on these?

I have odd ball Lancia's that can be very difficult to do even baSic stuff! I really appreciate any advice as I'd love to get one soon.

Unless you are going to try to rebuild the engine, transmission or differential, Patrols are very easy to work on. Many members use a Patrol to teach their children how to work on cars.

Hi Jerry,

in principle they are as simple as 4WDs can get...but 50 years of rust and PO mods can make it interesting !

There are a few oddities - like the bell housing and clutch arrangement, but generally it's all delightfully simple.

cheers,
D

If you've done something like a valve adjustment on a double-cam Lancia, the Patrol will be a piece of cake. There's no mysteries or special tricks needed to work on them, and the amount of information that this site has collected is the best. And there will be always somebody out there, even in the middle of the night, to help you with some questions. Our members in Australia are fully awake for those times  .

Terrific, you guys are great. It's nice to get the feedback. I've eyed them for a few years, love older tricks, SUVs.
Dad has 65 Ford camper special, brother had land cruiser, but I like the style and uniqueness of those, very neat

I'll hopefully work it out soon and keep in touch.

Thanks everyone.
