So who is the expert? The 69 had large ones mounted on the side yet the 67 apparently did not have any at all - and yet I see some of the 67 broshures show KL60s with stick mirrors like those on my 47 Willys but mounted on the top of the fenders. For example look at this week's shot on the home page. So did the 67 have factory mirrors or not? Thanks.

My '69 has a driver side door mounted mirror and a right finder mounted mirror. If you have a look at Bucky's '67 Patrol in the photo album you'll see his has a finder mounted mirror just like the '69. Hope this helps.

My '69 only has the driver's door mounted mirror, there is no passenger side fender mounted mirror on mine, nor was there any sign that one was ever intended to go there. Most of the pictures of '67 or older rigs I have seen show one mirror mounted on the driver's side just below the wind screen hinge. I have also seen many a picture where there was no mirror at all. Some items on Patrols were indeed dealer add-ons to make them meet specs, like reflectors and mirrors, so there is room for variation. If you want original for a '67 I would go for the straight armed small round mirror mounted just below the driver's side wind screen hinge.

Congratulation re Buckey's rig. It is beautiful and shows a temendous commitment to detail - and it has a straight-armed square mirror mounted on the passenger-side fender! So again the mystery continues with yet another twist on the theme. Buckey can you tell me where it was that you found guidance in mounting location? My 67 does not have any mounting holes in that location (nor any other for that matter) I suspect that Alex is right and that mirrors were optional on the 67 with dealers dictating mounting location to meet the requirements of the State where they were sold. As you can tell I find this subject intriguing. Anyone know more about the dealer input on mounting? This all touches on a larger issue: was the Patrol shipped stripped for box loading and then assembled on arrival in the States? If so, where and does the club have any contact with any former employees of the assembly plant?

I believe that Patrols were shipped to dealers as is, it was dealer perrogative as to what to add or what needed to be added, and where. I've heard that more Patrols were sold out of the Durango, CO Nissan dealer than any other, perhaps that would be a good place to head with any questions. I also know that there is a guy at the Maplewood, MN Nissan dealer who has been there since Patrols were sold new, another possible source for answers.
