Windshield frame without visor mounts?

Post by krc65tan »

When did they start adding sun visors to Patrol windshield frames? My '65 has a newer, two-vent frame with visor mounts. I just picked up a three-vent frame for a hardtop that doesn't have sun visor mounts. Seems crazy to me sun visors weren't an option at some point.

It sounds like your current windshield frame was from a later Patrol. Two vents and standard visors started in '68. Before that I think the only option was aftermarket or ordering some when they became available and using sheet metal screws. I have a '66 that has some but think the original owner added them later.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Any chance the PO had the holes filled prior to a repaint?

Ah. I figured that my current frame was from a '68 or '69. I guess everything starts as an option at some point...

No, the three-vent frame appears to be very original.
