Got rust? Seats, panels, doors, windows, etc. The old messages from the NPCA 'Body & Interior' category are here.

Sliding windows

Post by Mattbob53 »

I contacted Scott's old rubber and asked them if they would do any custom seals. They said yes but couldn't run it for one person and would have to have specs of the rubber not just a picture.. does anyone have the dimensions of the sliding glass window rubber? And has any already tried with Scott's??? I'm getting close to needing the seal and really don't want to put a solid window in.

Scott's probably wouldn't be the best choice since the are in Australia. The sliding window was only on the factory hard tops, which weren't imported to Australia. They would have no need for them. Best to stick with a distributor on this continent.

I have posed this question to vintage rubber. They supply a lot of rubber to Datsun restoration parts places so It's worth a shot. I'll keep on it. We may need a good one to duplicate which may be the largest challenge. I am sure someone still has a decent Mike Kay set or VR may actually know where the tooling is.

The company that will/can make these for us is closed in July I'll get information early August on viability.

It would be good to know how many sets we should try and have made.

Robert Moore organized the last group buy for this part. I did get one at that time and it was well made. Perhaps he can still pull one together.

Unfortunately the place is no longer around. Mike Kay of Datsunland passed last year and at last mention there hasn't been much movement there have been several mentions of someone taking over but no word yet.
