Re: Replacement Body Panels from Colombia
I have been exchanging emails with Alberto from Troa and let him know my concern about fit. He says it will "fit perfectly" and has offered to send measurements for the piece for me to compare to the floor pan assembly in my Patrol. I'm going to take him up on that and see how those measurements compare. I will say that he has been communicative and willing to work with me to make sure it works before I purchase.
I wish I could go the donor Patrol route, but I just don't have anyplace to keep it. But if anyone has a '69 donor with a solid floor pan assembly, I'd be interested.
Thanks, all. I'll let you all know what I find out.

Re: Replacement Body Panels from Colombia
Grenadier, I remain interested as I think the rust on The Green Machine is past the point of fixing, so in 2017 I'm looking at just about every body panel part that Ron has plus what he doesn't make i will get from Troa...if you have a good experience with Troa......and I am betting that you will.

Hey Boerne:
I did buy the floor pan assembly from Troa and it arrived today. It was about 3 weeks between order placement and delivery. I have not been down to the shop to see it yet, but my mechanic tells me it looks good. It will be a week or two before we get to checking the fit and seeing how much work will be needed for it to replace the original.
I can tell you that Alberto at Troa has been a pleasure to work with. I asked a lot of questions and he answered all of them with patience and grace. He also sent me a series of photos with measurements to help me understand how it compared to my floor pan.
I'll let you know how things go when we get to it.

Re: Replacement Body Panels from Colombia
I did purchase one of these floor pans (drivers side) from this source. It had one problem. The rocker rail was welded two inches too far towards the back. I e-mailed Alberto and he said that it would be corrected on future pans. I was able to work with mine. The pan needed minor trimming here and there to properly fit. Looks great installed.

Re: Replacement Body Panels from Colombia
Greetings O Patrol Panel Pounders,
Needed - Body Panels for 63
It is 2017 and I am at the point of deciding what to do on my rust problems. I would prefer good quality donor panels from here but there do not seem to be any around here.
Question #1 - Has anyone bought and installed fenders and those parts around the floor vents? If so what was your experience?
Question #2 - Does anyone know of anyone with the following good quality donor panel:
- both front fenders
- both sides, and inside and outside, of those panels surrounding the floor side vents
- rear passenger side quarterpanel
Any help would be appreciated,
L60Boerne

Re: Replacement Body Panels from Colombia
I have purchased fenders, rear tub panels, front fenders, and floor panels so far from them. I made my own side vent panels. The parts are made to fit later year models but I am sure they could be adapted to yours. The parts that I have been working with have been shown on my Montana Patrol restoration project. Good luck.

Re: Replacement Body Panels from Colombia
Thank you Jeff, That is what I fear. A close fit....that requires additional fitting. We have two trades around Boerne, TX. The guys that we screw it up at least once and by the time it is done right it will be 2X anticipated cost or the show car specialists that charge 3X the going price but you can show it. Both Patrols of mine will be driven up mountains and over any tree small enough to bend under the weight of the Patrol.
Your work is excellent, as it the other truly skilled Patrolees whom help me each week.
I still can't imagine how Leslie had two fuel inlet gaskets? Who has those lying around?
I will try to exercise patience and see if some donor panels pop up. Do you happen to know which panels would fit my 63? I'm thinking the years 62-65?

Re: Replacement Body Panels from Colombia
Haha!
You haven't seen my 4th bedroom.
The front fenders up to '67 will fit your Patrol. They have the kick vent tunnel attached usually. The inner panel for the kick vent is part of the firewall. Depending on the extent of damage on the quarter panel it may be best to replace the entire tub. Sounds like you need to find a cheap donor vehicle, or a decent body man.

Beyond any hope for intervention

Re: Replacement Body Panels from Colombia
Thank you Leslie, and just in case my wife reads this....... I haven't seen your first three bedrooms either! insert a laughing face here.... if I could figure out how to do that.
Yes, I have been patrolling for body panels or a donor but haven't even gotten close yet. That is my first choice. So I keep emailing the one TX donor seller but can't get a reply. I've got a few more months. I was sick when I missed those fresh fenders from the Tacoma area last week. I would never have thought they would have been in that good of condition from there. The receiver of those is one lucky Patrolee.
My panels can be fixed. I just hate rust. Given the condition of the overall body and frame it really doesn't justify anything but a lick and stick approach. But the mechanical is going to be as new when finished, probably a bit better.
Kind regards,
David
