cylinder head bolts

Really old stuff that got saved. Here are the old Nissan Patrol Club America messages from the 'General' category. Warning, it's dusty in here!

Anyone got the specs on the torque sequence for the head bolts on a '65' P engine?  All the manuals I have show all the other Datsun/Nissan engines but leave out the Patrol engine.  Thanks

cylinder head bolts

I was going to scan the page for you but my scanner seems to have a mind of it's own today.    Tighten cyclinder head bolts(cold) : 51 to 65 ft-lb Notes: a. One of the cyclinder head bolts is smaller in diameter and has a hollow head. It should be installed on right side center of clinder head.   b. Tightening should be made in two or three steps.  c. Retighten cylinder head bolts to 54 to 58 ft-lb after engine has been warmed up.  Note: Tightening should be done in two or three stages outwardly from center bracket.   Now the picture shows starting from center bolt on intake/exhaust side as 1 then middle bolt oil filter side as 2. 3 and 4 are the next two toward the front. 5 & 6 are next ones behind center bolts. so on front to back till you do all 14.                                        11   7   3   1   5   9    13                                                                    12   8   4   2   6   10   14      Keith
