Re: Glad to find you guys
Welcome to the forum!! There were two different carbs used on the USA Patrols -- Hitachi and Rochester. Do you know which you have? I believe the change point was around 1969......plus, after 55 years, there is no telling what a previous owner may have put on it! The Rochester is easy to find a kit for, since they were used on a lot of US vehicles like Chevies..........look at the Compatible Parts list on this forum. The Hitachi VC42, not quite as easy. There are a few sellers in Australia selling kits for the Hitachi. Here is one on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/198034711980?i ... SwIw5mgBFa
Here is an rebuild thread on the Hitachi VC42 here on this forum: viewtopic.php?t=6619&hilit=VC42+rebuild
However, the guy that did this thread is pretty slack, and hasn't finished it yet. Maybe this will be a reminder to him to get it done.

If you can post a picture of your carb here we can identify it for you, if it’s original

Appreciated the quick response, since then identified carb ,its a Rochester, picked up a kit but after washing parts reattached carb and started right up. Next is getting the clutch to respond and in working order
Still can't believe how resilient this vehicle is so cool
Still figuring out the forum but hoping to connect with the river patrol family and or big Joe being that I live right between them

Nice that you got it running. Yes, they are pretty resilient and hard to kill. Lots of members in CA that you can find to connect with, could keep you busy for a while.
