Plug wires /distributor cap

Post by Scootermixon »

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for replacing a waterproof hitachi distributor D 608 cap with a non waterproof type (if it’s even available) ? I ordered a set of plug wires that I thought would work but the waterproof cap appears to require a special type of plug wire…as an alternative does anyone know if there are waterproof plug wires available for this distributor? I’ve searched the internet and can’t seem to find anything…I have the Pertronix ignition conversion kit for this distributor so I would like to stay with it.

Thanks in advance for any help and/or advice 👍

There is not another distributor cap that will fit on the waterproof distributor. But it also doesn't require special plug wires. Almost any plug wires will work, just avoid copper core. The end of the wire that goes to the cap gets cut off. Then feed one of the threaded caps over the wire followed by one of the o'rings. Firmly push the end of the wire into the cap, push the o'ring down and screw on the threaded cap.
Beyond any hope for intervention
