Hello,
Time to install the Outside rear View Mirrors (OSRVM) on my 69 Patrol. Would someone with an original 69 please measure the placement on the driver’s door and passenger fender. Driver’s door I’ll just need the measurement from the front or rear edge of the door to the edge of the mirror triangular base. The passenger side I’d need measurement from the crease where the windshield frame mounts to edge of mirror triangular base and inner fender under hood to edge of mirror triangular base.
Thank you in advance,
Bill

The Driver's (left) side mirror is approximately 26" from the rear most edge of the door.

Re: 1969 Mirror Placement Help
I had some spare time today and made a baseplate for the passenger fender mirror. I have some of the Kuwait mirror sets and compared it to the original driver’s side mirror I bought from Leslie. The Kuwait mirror base is a different shape and cannot be reasonably modified to look like an original.
I used the gasket from my driver’s side mirror as a template to cut out the correct shape. Then drilled a 1/2” hole in the plate to locate the mirror stalk. Then heated the plate with my OA torch and used a body hammer with a 5/8” tapered end to curve up the edges of the hole. Then I reheated the base and used a 5/8” rod to bend the base hole to the correct angle.
I worked well and looks like original. Now I’ll insert a 5/8” tube and weld in place. Then fuller the end for the mirror attachment.
I plan to install the mirror using Rivnuts, so I’ll be able to quickly remove them for access to the engine compartment or navigate brush.
Left is new baseplate and right is Kuwait mirror.
