Front Wheel Cylinder Cups

Greetings Patrollees Worldwide,

I'm likely the last one to know this but after buying $600 worth of wheel cylinders from Australia Eddie found that the front wheel cylinders are easily rebuilt for just a few bucks from O Reilly, ask for AC Delco #18G94, GM#18031273...even made in Japan!

This is verified information and should added to the Compatable Parts List, in my opinion.

Per RockAuto, the rebuild kits above are for the CHEVROLET 1981-1982 LUV and 1988-1992 ISUZU PICKUP. The kit includes "Spring, Boots, and Seals", but no piston.

As an alternative, perhaps buying a CHEVROLET complete wheel cylinder and removing the new piston, seals and boots will allow you to refresh the entire Patrol Wheel cylinder.
Here are the Chevrolet wheel cylinder part numbers for reference.

Hopefully, these rebuild components are DOT 4 compatible!

Thank you Keith, I know you are building a show stopper. So you installed these Chevy wheel cylinders in yours and they work perfectly? I sure could have saved alot of time and money had this little Nissan Nugget been known.

I was not aware that the AC Delco #18G94 kit would fit the Patrol wheel cylinders until you made the recent post.

My post yesterday was intended to expand on that knowledge and identify a potential piston that would fit the Patrol wheel cylinder.

I have not attempted to rebuild my Patrol wheel cylinders, I sourced new wheel cylinders from Australia several years ago when I restored the brake system.

I hope your discovery of a compatible rebuild kit will pan out, as there are many of us who could benefit from a readily available rebuild kit.

OK, thanks Keith. Yes, the AC Delco cups fit perfectly. Rebuilding requires a bit more than replacing the rubber though. The ACDelco kit ONLY includes the rubber so if your front wheel cylinders are further damaged then additional parts sourced elsewhere will be required. For example, Eddie honed the pitts out of the metal as well.

FWIW - I don't think the original Nissan rebuild kit included new pistons either, always only the rubber parts. Typically as part of rebuilding wheel cylinders honing is one of the steps.

I bought the Raybestos kit and it is nothing like my front wheel cylinder seals. Mine has a flat rubber disk that the spring pushes against. The outer seal is also way too small
