If it doesn't fit in the others but is 60 series related, post it up.

How often do you use your Patrol?

Post by jAyL60 »

Greetings all!

I'm back on Patrol after a long hiatus. My '67 is running like a champ and we're makin' memories again!

I have been driving my Patrol daily for about two months or so. My drives are short runs to visit nearby family members, grocery store runs, and small errands. Speeds 15-40ish mph. I run my Patrol for at least 15-30 min daily and I'm curious about everybody else's usage.

I would like to know:

* How often do you use your Patrol?

* How do you use your Patrol?

I try to use mine once a week, but no more that every two weeks. On a previous job and when I lived in Virginia, I used to go once a week to my job, on a 40 mile roundtrip, and with sustained speeds of 50 mph for some stretches. It was great.

Now it will be mostly errands with probably some 8 to 10 miles roundtrip.

Before moving to the States with my Patrol, it was a daily driver for 36 years. In the last 19 years I've done 27k miles.

You have to move your vehicles, otherwise rust will take place in some internal components like bearings (happened to me once after the car sat for 6 months)

Driving daily is just a dream right now. Still working to get Edgar back on the road. Hope is eternal!

I have both my Patrols on 'club plates' - read that as concessional rego. So they only cost about $100 each for a year for rego. Concessional rego is about allowing cars 25 years or older to be driven for pleasure (not for daily drive). I can run each Patrol for 60 days per year. As it turns out I use one for about 10 days per year and the other about 50. That use works well for me as I can use them when I want and when the weather is fine.
Not sure if I will get there.
Not sure if I will get back.
But I usually do!!!

135 mile round trip daily. It's been awesome. The only real upgrades at the moment are a dual Reservoir master cylinder and pertronic ignition.

That's a lot of Patrol time! :D
Beyond any hope for intervention
