Weatherstrip applied to doors (vs body)

Got rust? Seats, panels, doors, windows, etc. The old messages from the NPCA 'Body & Interior' category are here.

Weatherstrip applied to doors (vs body)

Post by Mr. Zero »

Did some searching on this and didn't find any posts, so here goes... My '69 KL60 came with the door weatherstrip applied to jam around the sill of the doorway. Looks correct and never assumed otherwise, but is this correct? Assuming that it is, has anyone reversed this so that the weatherstrip is applied to the doors such that the weatherstrip is not exposed to the elements during doors-off applications? I'm thinking to go top+doors off full time and it will take no time for the weatherstrip to be dust once exposed to the summertime Southern Nevada sun. Thoughts...? Experience...?
