Hello all,

I have been through the process of creating a Front Disc Brake Bracket that requires no modifications to the stock Patrol equipment. It's a true Bolt on bracket that will allow you to have front disc brakes easily. It should also allow you to use most wheels without the need for a spacer but you will need to check your wheels measurements before. I have finally gotten the design set and I'm awaiting quotes on how much I can get them manufactured for.

My design uses GM calipers and rotors. It's also best to upgrade your master cylinder to a 1 1/8" dual style. Below I will list all the parts and pieces that one would need to make this conversion. It's not super cheap, but it's the easiest one I've seen so far to apply. Depending on how you mount the proportioning valve you will have to make some new hard lines, 2 if you use the mounting kit, 4 if you custom mount it on the frame.

Once I finally get some production units I will put together a set of detailed instructions with pictures. Below is a picture of the CAD drawing. If you might be interested in these let me know and once I get the cost of these I'll let y'all know.

$100 Brake Rotor: 580438RGS or 18A258 from a 90"s era 1500/2500 4x4 - center bore machined to a diameter of 108mm w/a small 45deg chamfer on backside -as of 6/24

$325 1 1/8" Wilwood 260-14389 - The 14389 has a more stock look, is adequate and has equal volume on both circuits. - as of 10/19/23
Or a better option
$300 1 1/8" Wilwood 260-8556 - The 8556 has a 2:1 volume output on the front circuit which provides better pressures for the disc brakes. - as of 10/19/23

Update 4/11/24 !! These MC's that have the horizontal mounts utilizing the MC adapter will only work on MANUAL CLUTCH year models......hydraulic clutch models will not accommodate these horizontal mounting type MC's due to the presence of the hydraulic clutch MC. I think I have a solution for this but it will take me some time to bring it to fruition. I will update this once I do.

$150-$300 Wilwood Master Cylinder adapter which I can have made or you can fabricate your own -as of 10/19/23

$95 Proportioning Valve (I used Wilwood 260-11179 ) this one has a built in pressure switch for the brake lights -as of 2/22

Or you can get a kit that mounts the prop valve to the MC which looks nice and clean. The kit includes the mount and the Prop valve.

You can forgo the mounting kit, fab up your own and mount it where the old T mounted to the frame.

Before you purchase a mounting kit please contact Wilwood to verify that you are getting the correct bracket kit for the MC you chose and for the correct side depending on your clutch type.

Prices are for total parts needed for each item and may vary depending on where you live. These are also brand new parts so if you like to go junk yard shopping you could get some of these for much cheaper, namely the calipers and rotors.

I'll post a picture of the initial set that was made for me to test. I had it all built up to make sure everything fit but forgot to take a picture before I disassembled it again.

Not too late, I'm late on getting these things made but only due to issues with the shops that are supposed to make them. I will hopefully get them done soon and will let everyone know when they are ready.

Hey, brakes are the weak point on my ‘66 OE full resto. Gonna put it in the lineup for summer projects. The bolt on bracket is def something I would order. Update when yah can. Thanks for the post.

Still trying to get manufacturing issues rectified at the moment. I am not happy with the current quality of the brackets so I am trying to work through that. Hopefully I will have a better update soon. I will advise everyone ASAP on when we can expect them to be available.
