Transmission to bellhousing mounting torque?

Does anyone know the recommended torque for the bolts that mount the trans to the bellhousing? Thanks!

Justin, thanks for the suggestion but I already have the service and engine manuals
I looked through them pretty closely but wasn't able to find this spec
Hopefully someone will be able to help. If you know where this info is in the manual please point me to it.

Hey Poinrobe -- I looked too and it's not obvious! I probably went with the "really tight plus a little more" setting when I installed mine! ;-)

We can check the common torque values for any specific bolt size and see its in the ball park. I'm not sure of the bolt size, but the bolt sizes I'd guess all seem a little too tight... so that's not much help!

Maybe the reference we can use is the torque for the transmission to the clutch housing... but I couldn't find those! Dang!

Perhaps the transmission to transfer case torque... 32 to 46 foot-pounds?

So, lastly, I looked up what a big block chevy bell housing bolt would be torqued to. According to Summit Racing, just 25 foot-pounds

In other words, I have no idea! But the 32 to 46 foot-pounds seems to be in the ball park. If it makes you feel any better, I probably used the super-precise "really tight plus a quarter turn" method and the transmission didn't fall out of the 1,500 miles we drove it... it even stayed together when it bumped a tree hard enough to disintegrate three out of four motor mounts! (total brake failure! Don't forget to upgrade your brakes to a dual master cylinder! ;-) )

I have a little book of the specs for all Nissan/Datsun models from 1973. It's basically a shop manual. Incredible and unfortunately, it leaves blank the values you requested. It only shows the same values that Faux40 wrote.
