Do I have the correct Pertronix installation?

Hi Folks,
This is my first post other than my intro. I just bought my first Patrol. It's a 1966, all stock except for electronic fuel pump, and I just installed a Pertronix electronic igniter for the waterproof dizzy. The engine does turn over but will not start. I checked the fuel pump, and that seems to be working, and I tried brake cleaner in the carb while trying to start. Nada. So, fuel and spark... Although it has been sitting for 1.5 years, the brake cleaner method should rule out bad gas or carb, right?

Just wanted to see if I have the Pertronix installed correctly. I measured the resistance across the coil at 4.9 ohms, which is above the 3.0-ohm minimum according to Pertronix. I have attached pics of my setup. Pardon the rat's nest of wires. I'll get to that later... Also, the dizzy cap. Looks like it could be installed in 3 different orientations (bolt pattern is symmetric). The cap is labeled with cylinder numbers with 3 showing toward the front ds.

Which part number did you buy? The waterproof model distributor that you have required the Pertronix out number 1163. The more common part available is the 1162 that fits the non-waterproof model.

I'd have to go pull one to verify but it looks like the right one, you don't have the grommet installed correctly though which will allow water to get in. What is not correct is your rotor. But you say you are getting spark?

I got the 1163. I was mentioning that fuel and spark are the main 2 things an engine needs, and I had fuel. So, maybe I messed up something with the Pertronix. I can't quite reach the ignition and ground a spark plug to the engine to check for spark at the same time but got a pretty good shock when trying that twister maneuver haha. I'll get the boss to help me with that tomorrow. Cheers

Another thing to check is if the brake cleaner is actually flammable. Some aren’t, so it’s best to confirm.

I had my wife turn the key while I grounded a spark plug on the engine. Not getting a spark. So, I have some more troubleshooting to do.
