Visited our Patrol yesterday, to put a new tarp on it. As is obvious, it's presently in storage awaiting its turn at rehabilitation.

What I found amazing is that those tires still hold air - they are 45 years old, and recaps to boot! Compare with the pic in my avatar.

The beer keg is a replacement for the rusted out gas tank, also installed about 45 years ago.

Can’t say that I have heard of Super Cargo Duster tires before, but if they still hold air after 45 years...
Your Patrol looks pretty solid and mostly original.

It is pretty solid, there is some rot in the bottom of the rear doors that should be relatively easy to fix. Surprising since it spent it's first four years on Long Island (NY) as the dealership's parts runner/snowplow. All the soft top frame parts are stored safely inside, as are the two rear seats and the original wheels/tires. The front wheels still have the original tires (worn down), and the spare is still the original unused tire. Unfortunately the tool box, tools, jack, and hand crank have disappeared.

It's been in our family since new, and yes is pretty original. It's had a trailer brake controller added, and I put a tach on it in the seventies since the speedometer didn't work, at least to have some way to tell how fast we were going. It did have Warn locking hubs, but there were some broken parts inside them so I took them off and replaced with the original parts. When it's the Patrol's turn for refurb, hopefully we can find replacement parts for the Warn hubs. The spotlights on the hood were added for use when plowing.

Yes, it had (and still has) a Western Snow Plow setup made specifically for Nissan Patrols. I took all the pump parts off, but they are stored safely away. I don't see that we would ever plow snow again with it (don't get much in North Carolina anyway) but it would be a cool display at shows.

I've slowly been collecting a few parts to use in it's refurbishment.

Awesome story. My red '66 Togo also had a snow plow on it. I have since removed the pump and everything, except the fog lights.

Regarding the locking hubs, it might be easier to get new ones. I bought a pair of Selectro a couple of years ago, that I hace not installed yet. I’m away from my computer to check the place where I purchased from. A member here posted the link.

Interestingly, I also got a set of the Selectro hubs when that link was posted......just in case. If I can't find the parts needed for the Warn hubs, I'll use the Selectros.

River, was your plow setup a Western also? I love the Western brochure for the Patrol:

I think I might have a spare set of Warn locking hubs that were on my red Patrol when I parted it out.

I'll dig around in some boxes when I'm out in the garage, and will shoot you a PM if I find them.

Your Patrol is a real gem. I hope you will be as surprised as I have been with their ability to live again. The base materials are excellent. Don't fear the lack of spare parts. Your are in good hands as I am sure you already know. The parts will surface but the main parts you already have!

Yes, it was the Western. The plow now lives in Winslow, AZ.
