New to Patrol scene

I have just recently discovered the Nissan Patrol. From the minute I saw it, I knew I wanted to be a part of such an awsome community. Being pretty new to the Patrol, I was wandering if anyone could tell me where I could find one to buy and what model would be preferable to someone new to the vehicle. I live in Oregon. What are the major companies that make parts for them?

What part of Oregon are in, I grew up in Oregon and saw my first Patrol outside Salem. Fortunately for you there are a lot of Patrols in Oregon, Washington and NorCal. Although they can be very hard to find....I have for sale a 1964 KL60 (hardtop) that has had much work done recently, all new brakes with every part new, new oil pump and oil pan, rebuilt starter, rebuilt suspension with all new bushings and leafs, complete fuel system rebuild with new fuel pump/tank/carb, Rancho 5000's shocks and new steering damper....the list goes on. You can also browse this site as people often sell their Patrols here. Ebay is also a good place as just last week there was one for sale on ebay. You should decide what you want in a Patrol, a classic cruiser that sees trails only once in awhile or the full built up trail rig that is only a shell of a Patrol or maybe something in between. You can get a rig that is original but in dire need of restoration, you can get a frame and body ready to mod up, you could find a good daily driver or you can even seek out the rarest of rares and have a one of a kind truck, such as my red 66. For models you have no choices at this time....the most common is the KL or hardtop, the ragtop is very very rare and 95% of the ones left are missing the canvas and frame, all are short wheel base. You could also look in autotraders as from time to time in Oregon I have seen them in these. Beaware parts are hard to come by, these rigs take a huge amount of patients to work on as it can take months to receive parts. The trucks don't cruise fast stock, about 55mph is a good cruising speed for the Patrol. They are loud as the design is not so much for comfort. They lack a very low crawler gear...there is no syncro on 1st gear that takes getting used to. The are cool as can be though and are eye catchers everywhere you drive one. When it comes to parts anything from 1961 to 1979 will fit and present no problems, yet we only have 1962-1969 Patrols in the USA. Well I hope this helps and awnsers some of your questions. my 64 KL60 Patrol is getting a brand new carb as the rochester sucks, also it is getting a new exhaust sytem all in SS with muffler. This brings up the price....if you are seriously intrested in my Patrol you can email me. Thanks, Ian
