; ; Hi there dealer; ; This is Chris at Santa Cruz Nissan (the real ; dealer... just kidding).; Anyway... it looks like I can only get the front ; wheel cylinders and maybe a fuel tank sending unit.; I say "maybe" because the sending unit shows up on ; back order but it is still a good part # in the; system wich is usually a good sign. The rear ; cylinders, as you may know, are not available to me; but you might try Ian (FUD). He seems to have great ; connections that are sometimes better than I.; Let me know if I can place the order. The wheel ; cylinders would take me about 3-4 days to get and ; then allow a few more to UPS to you.; ; Chris David; ; ; ----- Original Message ----- ; From: ; dealer ; ; To: Nissan Patrol Club ; Albuquerque ; Sent: Wednesday, September 10, 2003 11:33 ; AM; Subject: wheel cylinders....; ; ; ; ; New Message on Nissan Patrol ; Club Albuquerque; ; ; wheel ; cylinders....; ; ; ; Reply; ; ; ; ; ; Reply to Sender Recommend ; Message 1 in ; Discussion ; ; ; ; ; ; From: dealer ; ; ; help! ! ! trying to find some wheel cylinders ; for a 69 L60...also a fuel tank and sending unit....thanks in ; advance...........dealer..View other groups in this ; category.

Wheel cylinders are a big issue if you own a Patrol with stock axles. Shoes and drums you can deal with locally at a brake shop but the cylinders are unique to the Patrol. Also the master cylinder is a concern but IMO is not as tough to dealw ith as the cylinders, it just last londer being in the engine bay. Cylinders wear out and that is the deal, once leaking they will trash your brakes and make it dangerous to drive. Chris at SCN is a great guy to deal with and buy parts from...his ability is only limited by Nissan USA
He supplied me with a bunch of front cylinders last fall, he also gave me a huge bag of brake rebuild parts! Thanks Chris again!! Chris owns a Patrol himself and likes them as much as the rest of us so what better guy to buy Nissan parts from?? Rear cylinders are no more from Nissan, a few places sell aftermarket ones over seas but they are expensive and not the same quality as Nissan. I recently started stock piling rear cylinders, used ones. I tried using a cylinder hone on them and it works well to clean up the bore. So, for rear cylinders I have some rebuilt ones for sale and a few new aftermarket ones also. I am stock piling more rears and so will have more for sale in the future. Sorry, they are not cheap but they take time, work and my own cash to make solid again. So if in a jam for rears feel free to contact me and I may be able to help. For now fronts are reaily available from any Nissan dealer.

; Hi there Tim,; ; The Patrol does take 4 front wheel cylinders(2 per ; side). They use 1 cylinder per shoe. Interesting design and when you get in ; there you'll see how simple it is. Use tons of rust penetrant on the lines and ; bolts several days in advance of actually doing the job. This saved my ; bacon big time on mine. Back to buisiness. The wheel cylinders are $51.25 each ; for 1 part # (x2) and $54.90 each for the other part # (x2). I don't know why ; they are different but Nissan just priced them that way. On the rear wheel ; cylinders I would contact Ian at fuddruckers@earthlink.net. He may or ; may not have a resource on these.; ; Thank you for your inquiry; ; Chris at Santa Cruz Nissan; ; ----- Original Message ----- ; From: ; dealer ; ; To: NissanPatrolClubAlbuquerque@groups.msn.com ; ; Sent: Tuesday, September 16, 2003 9:33 ; AM; Subject: Re: wheel cylinders....; ; ; ; ; New Message on Nissan Patrol ; Club Albuquerque; ; ; wheel ; cylinders....; ; ; ; Reply; ; ; ; ; ; Reply to Sender Recommend ; Message 3 in ; Discussion ; ; ; ; ; ; From: dealer ; ; ; ; ; chris: let me know how much the wheel cylinders are for the ; 69 L60...front. where did you say that i might be able to get ; the rear wheel cylinders? they tell me that the front have 4 ; wheel cylinders...is that standard on nthese? let me ; know.. thanks, ; dealer.; ; tim ; huber............; ; ; ; Get a ; FREE computer virus scan online from McAfee. ; View other groups in this ; category.

; The rear has one cylinder per side, which by what ; I am seeing here NPCA members are saying are unavailable from the dealer. ; However they are rebuildable, and the cup seals as of last month are available ; at the dealership. Dannette and Keith were able to get the numbers for me from ; their microfiche. I ordered them and three days later they were in my hands. ; Thanks Keith and Dannette!; ; David CollinsHood Canal ; Communications

were you able to get more than just the cup? The outer seals are usually shot also and without a good outer seal water will get in there and trash it. Aftermarket ones have a crappy outer seal that does not have the retaining clip. Also make triple sure your bore is very smooth as water usually has pitted them. Light pitting can be honed out but deep pitting and the body is toasted. The rebuilt cylinders I have for sale are rebuilt with new cup, piton, outer seal, retaining clip, bleeder and the bodies are solid. The aftermarket ones I have for sale are modified using the Nissan outer seal and retaining clip so that they are better than the way they come from Oz or other places. To anyone rebuilding their cylinders....make sure it is done right as it is no fun to do it more than once....or worse have them fail when you are wheeling.
