Rear Half Doors

Post by L60Boerne »

CCV5 will be converted to a soft top. I would prefer to buy/trade for several soft top half doors rather than dismantling mine, which are in good shape.....if a difference exists? If anyone has surplus softie rear doors please let me know. I presume their is a difference...other than the long closing latch? Still learning the ways of the Patrol.

The primary difference is that soft top rear doors don't have the square holes on top for the door-top supports to slide into.

There is no difference in the side doors between a soft top and hard top Patrol, so you should be Ok with your existing side doors

Makes me wonder if the bed of your Patrol has all of the captured nuts for your soft top conversion. Maybe you should plan on bringing a trailer and picking up the bed off my 67 when you come up to check out that place in Lake City. If I don't keep the bed, I don't need the doors. I am planning making a trailer out of it, but my inspiration may not blossom.

Thanks Chris, I was kinda thinking the same thing. I see storm clouds brewing as I try to fit the your soft top frame onto my tub. Did you say you still had the half doors in the rear? We should be up within the next 70 days.

David

Yep, you shoulda bought the whole thing. If you need the tub it's yours. It's pretty straight and a good body guy could clean it up easily. Might as well do it right, huh. Maybe the other Patrolers can tell you if the captured nuts were universal to all models at that time, or you can remove your hard top to find out. I still have the half doors, however I damaged one when we backed it into the shed. Straighten it or re-skin it would be your option (easy either way). Let me know because I am trying to clear some space for my unavoidable proclivities.

The captured nuts are only on the soft top tubs. ;)
Beyond any hope for intervention

Thank you RiverPatrol. Thank goodness Plateaucal is willing to trade his tub!

Now I guess the doors are the next issue.....but I will not give up.

Raul made me up a set of rear doors when I bought the soft top frame from him. I won't get to it for a few months (at least). They look good and he does good work - so that would be an option for you. There's also some factory hardware that he has (I think it is NOS).
