Hi.Today most of the Patrol's owners enjoy your cars on sunny days. By sure a lot people would prefer remove the canvas and frame but do not do it because think is too much work. I am preparing some videos to show how easy and fast is remove canvas, canvas frame, front doors, fold windshield.
This first video is about remove canvas frame. It takes 15 minutes done by myself. Just help to lift and take off.

Thanks

Thank you Raul. I look forward to receiving my soft top in September. Your solved one of my hesitations. I thought once I put on the soft top I was stuck. Which I was prepared to be, but now I see I can I have options.

Great video!   I've often thought that this method should be possible. This is assuming that the canvas is still on the frame I guess. The only question I would have then, is how to remove the canvas from the front bead along the top of the windshield? The windshield can't be folded down until you do this.

More great videos, thank you!

The video for the canvas is for the later style canvas. I'm not sure what year it started but it was late '70s. The typical canvas that we have has separate side curtains and rear curtains. These are attached with straps and ties to the frame, so the removal would be slightly different. This is excellent reference though. Also to note and shown in this video, the canvas is stretched very tight over the front doors where it slides into the channel. This makes for a tight fit and very helpful having a friend assist, unless you want to walk a mile circling your Patrol.

Hi Leslie. You are rigth, but the process is almost the same on both canvas style, just remove de sides as first step on old models.

I am going to do the same videos for my Yellow Patrol 1964 with original canvas, but after Agust 18th when return to Colombia. I will share as soon as I get it.

Thanks

Raul & RiverPatrol,

I understand how the canvas "tucks" into the front windshield....but I'm still asking what is likely a VERY dumb question..possibly a new low for me...

Can the front windshield be folded down while keeping the canvas top in place? If not, can Raul fabricate something that would allow it?
