Just wondering how everyone has ckeaned their engine and trans and block when it's covered with layers of oil and crud. I don't really want to let it run down my drive way as my wife wouldn't appreciate that, anyone ever heard of places that you can take engines and rent a hotsy pressure washer? Any other ideas

im looking for a way to clean and degrease the engine and transmission at home. what does everyone do? im also trying to get some ideas to catch all the degreaser and run off as there are bylaws as to letting it get in the water shed . any ideas would be great. im wondering if i should just take the whole works to a shop and have them clean it but it would be a pain to get there

Usually the "spray wand" car wash places recycle their water as opposed to just sending it down a drain, so you could take it there if it's mobile. Soak it down good with lots of degreaser, scrub with various brushes, soak again, and then hit it with the high pressure wand At least it won't be an environmental issue that way. Or you could build you a temporary containment using a large tarp and some 2x6's. But the problem there is where do you dispose of the grease/oil/water?

None of these may be a really good solution. There may not be a really good solution. :(
