mounting engine to stand

Just curious how most people mount their engine to an engine stand. Do you mount at the bell housing or take the housing and clutch/flywheel off? What hardware do you use to mount it?

Take the clutch etc off, mount directly on the engine.

In my opinion, definitely motor only - the cantilever effect of such a long, heavy motor hanging off the engine stand is scary enough without adding the length of the bell housing !
Personally I only use new high tensile bolts ( with thick washers behind the heads ) to hold an engine on a stand, never old ones from the car - I have a set for each type of motor that I've built to suit the engine stand with the correct thread and lengths.
Cheers,
