Koito Headlights.

Post by plateaucal »

My 69 has Koito headlights. Are they possibly OEM spec. lights?

Are they hard to come by and if so, should I replace them with newer ones? I've done likewise with the front and rear turn signal lenses (with Robert's creations) so as not to damage the originals during use.

Thanks.

That's a matter of opinion, I guess. I see them turn up pretty frequently, more than glass tail lights for sure. Others may think that they are rare enough. I think Robert found a good replacement for them once.

For me headlights are a wearable item so I always try to put the brightest one feasible (and legal of course) Long ago I converted mine to halogen bulbs inside. You still can get sealed headlights or Bosch and Hella with replaceable bulbs. Once you compare them with the originals you never go back.

But if you're aiming for a show car then the choice is definitely the original Koitos.
