Hi,

I just purchased my 1st G60 Patrol and thought I'd better start looking around for some support! I am in Australia and plan on making the truck roadworthy to use as a daily driver and for camping and the like.

That is a very nice looking ute! Seems the utes are getting more popular lately. Doesn't look like it would take too much to get it road worthy. Keep us posted on your progress, and remember that we love pictures.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm in the central west of New South Wales. Near Dubbo. It's a 1977 model and that is the only picture I have. I haven't actually seen it yet... I will pick it up in two weeks when I can organise a car trailer. The owner tells me the engine runs but he thinks the clutch is seised. I may need some help with that one. It needs new wiring for the lights too but I'm told that couldn't be simpler than in a G60.

You may think this is sacrilege but I'm not too fussed about keeping everything original. If I can replace a part with a more modern/cheaper part then I will. Filters and mechanical parts are what I'm referring to mostly.

I can't wait to get stuck in!

Unless you're attempting to restore to original condition, performing mods to update for safety or convenience shouldn't be considered sacrilege. Hack away!

Welcome, your ute looks really solid and it shouldn't have much rust if its from out west, Lots of parts swap into a G60, I have Ford,Holden,MQ, GQ in mine. A clutch is a bit of a prick of a job to replace, could be just a slave or master cylinder, dry linkage or throw out bearing.

Welcome! So on these utes are the tops removable? It aslo appears if they are you couldn't fold down the front wondow. Still a real nice Patrol.

Tops/roof is not removeable, it's part of the cab. The early ones had folding windshield hinges, but the later ones had non-folding brackets. I don't think that the early ones could even fold the windshield down though.. I wouldn't think it could clear the front of the roof.

Well I picked it up and gave it a new home in the shed. It looks like it needs a bit more work than I anticipated .I'll post more pics soon.
