Are these the original wheels?

Post by offroadkid »

So, I read that Patrols came with 16" wheels, I think in my parts manual, an owners manual, and somewhere else, but my spare wheel is a 15". It appears to be the original as it has the split rim?

Can someone verify if 1966 may have come with 15"? I really want to put some correct size steel wheels on our Patrol.

Thanks!

That is indeed an original 15" wheel. Your '66 would have come with 5 of those wheels.

The Patrol had solid 16" wheels from '62 to mid '66. The 16" wheels changed to the split rim 15" wheels at the same time that the front doors changed and the exterior door handle went from being inset in the door to being mounted on top of the door skin, and instead of a pull handle it had a square push button.

Sometime after the Patrol quit being offered in the US, 1970-something, they went back to a 16" inch wheel, but now they were the split rim type. :ugeek:
