Snow in So Cal

Post by RiverPatrol »

It doesn't happen very often. This is a lot of snow. It hasn't snowed in this area for 10 years. Love the snow on the palm trees. :D

How fun! It was supposed to snow here in Las Vegas today. The news made it seem like it was going to be a storm of biblical proportions. all I saw was a few flurries :?

All we have in Phx is rain....

cold, wet, miserable rain.

The Ozzie Ute looks cool in that picture Leslie...

My Patrols, however, all just look soggy...

It's interesting how the weather moves. Where I'm at right now is about exactly halfway between where the picture was taken and where you are near Phoenix. Yet all we got was cold wind with cloud cover, not even any rain. The weather totally misses us but continues on east.

Regarding the SoCal blizzard...my 64 datsun 320 manual has some great advice.
"Sudden braking can cause the vehicle to skid along the road without stopping although the wheels are completely braked. The vehicle in this uncontrollable condition can then head into an unpredictable direction causing such accidents as death and injury to people passing by. This skidding can occur easily on a wet or icy road surface: If such skidding occurs, calmly release the brake pedal or the accelerator pedal and, at the same time, turn the steering wheel in the direction of the side skid to regain the wheels grip on the road and so that the original direction of the vehicle can be regained"
"Calmly" is important.
Also...concerning cold weather "when the vehicle is to be parked outdoors during even one cold night the cooling water must be drained out...open both cocks to drain the water out completely...when the water has been drained out, leave a reminder of the condition by such measures as removing the radiator cap and placing it on the driver's seat. Otherwise,...such failures as seizure of the engine may occur"
And...yes, after all this time, I've posted a couple pics.
Happy new year to all!
Mild Bill

So that means you didn't get to try the snow plow. :D
