PFP Commercial Shoot

So a couple weeks ago I get an email from Leslie saying that someone was looking through the pics of SoCal Patrols here on the Forum and they decided they wanted PFP for an upcoming commercial shoot. She asks if I would be interested in renting out PFP?

"Of course!" I said. Thank you Leslie !!

So fast forward a bit, and one day last week I meet with the vehicle manager Joe and his assistant Liz in the BestBuy parking lot in Atwater Village.
They look over the truck, they confirm it's what they want and the only mod they ask me for is to swap to the OEM front end. I'm in luck because Leslie had included one in the sale of PFP and I had already sand blasted it and painted it a while back.

Did the front end swap last weekend.
The asked me not to drive the truck until they came to pick it up on a trailer last night - to avoid any last minute "accidents"...

Pick up went fine last night.

Call time was 7am off of Soledad Canyon Rd in Acton, but they told me to get there by 9am.
Got there on time but PFP was still en route, so I started making friends with the Art Dept staff.

Then PFP arrives on its trailer... The grille chrome bar is a loaner from Rob - so a part of one of his trucks made it in to the shoot too! Thx Rob!!

First things first, fake license plates !

A universal roof rack shows up - (no they didn't offer to let me keep it ... bummer lol)

And a series of vintage looking camping props

So we do some mock ups until the Art Director is happy

Then it's time to get PFP on set, several people want to drive it

Then we dress the truck with all the props

Clear the set, make up for the actor

It's always amazing how much staff is required on these shoots - and everyone has a specific role and everyone is working

Fun experience, beautiful weather, great location off the 14 fwy between Santa Clarita and Palmdale CA.
They said it usually takes roughly a month to go from the shoot day to when the ad airs on tv - so I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for it...

You neglected to mention that the commercial is for NIssan.

PFP is getting pretty famous very quickly. Maybe I shouldn't have been so hasty to sell it...

Looks like a fun day. PFP looks great in that setting; they made a good pick. That is very close to the area where they did the shoot with Limey for Free Soul.

I will anxiously await the commercial. That might mean that I have to watch regular TV though.

JMO, but that rig looks a million times better with its "correct" front grill (glad I could help a little bit with that last little "detail" ); and the shots taken in that setting are awesome.

A buddy of mine that i work with asked me what kind of vehicle that was that i drive, i said its a Nissan Patrol. Then he said, i just seen a Nissan commercial with one of those in it. Hmmmm must be PFP?
