SELL PATROL IN THE USA!!!!
The New Patrol is out, but contrary to early informations is just the same Y61 with "makeover" changes The Interior is completely new, new dash, new seats, etc In the Outside, new headlights, new hood or bonet, new tail lights, new "plastics" everywhere, but the body is essentially the same, the mechanichs remain the same aswell. Saying that I think that this one will not make it to the US Soil since it will need lots of changes to meet US DOT requirements. My guess is that youll have to wait for the entirely new generation of Patrols before dreaming about an American version, an maybe that one will come out with the US market in mind aswell Rod

I've been driving the same Patrol for close to 40 years by now and I love it! However, I think it will be a terrible seller. People are aiming for "looks" rather than functionality, or for the "image" they project with their cars. Think for a minute in Hummer 2 and Range Rover. Reliability doesn't play any factor. Nissan will have to redesign completely the Patrol to fit in this pattern. They already have the Pathfinder Armada. The Patrol was voted some years ago as the more reliable car by the United Nations. Last year, they also won the Telefonica Dakar Rally in the category of 4WD unmodified vehicles. That didn't mean anything in terms of additional sells worldwide. Who wants today a car that will last 25 years? Maybe all of us in these forums, but whom else? Esteban
