NSW Australia, Relic Graveyard

Post by G60michael »

Hi everyone, I know there is a fair few members who love looking and playing around graveyards of old relics, well we are patrol owners for starters

A few weeks ago I went back out to the property where my mate Neil purchased his 1975 Red G60 from, and where I got the mint condition MWB canvas from.

Reason I went back out there was to see about 2 old g60 motors they had around, I came home with 2 Original NON Split Rims and a Crank handle, best shopping centre I have ever been to.

Some may have seen these photos on Facebook, heaps of others wouldn't so I thought I better share them, So Grab a beer and pull up a chair, there's 77 photos to look at 8-)

To Right there Steve, Its beyond a collector, Inside the house there is everything you name it, literally a persons width walk way throught the house, there is about a foot from the ceiling to the stuff stacked on top of the table, its a real eye-opener. Its amazing that he knows where literally everything is, amazes me, and yet there still constantly collecting, there been into the timber industry and earthworks and there is a relatively new Mack Tip truck parked under a fallen down shed, also what was a relatively new D9 Bulldozer stuck sideways on a hill with the risk if they start it up it will fall over the cliff :o

All I can say is that theres obviously some money in the timber and eartworks game

reminds me of how our place used to be. very very similar. 3 generations plus of accumulated old farm machinery of every type, vehicles, scrap steel etc.
we sent the majority of it to the scrap yards half a decade ago now. 100+ cars of all types, 50-60 tractors and trucks. half a dozen dozers, and about 150 ton of miscellaneous scrap.

most was originally kept with the old adage "we might need it later". a hang over from the war time era where shortages of anything and everything became the mother of all ingenuity.

the v/arrow shaped steel thing next to the red long nosed Bedford is a dozer towable 3 tined ripper. I don't think I have seen more than 3 with the travelling that I have done. most went to scrap.

several of those fordsons look like the early p6's. the one with the crank handle almost certainly is. I never used them but my old man has some fond memories of them. some not so fond ones too

the dozer is an old cable blade job. we had one identical. buggered if I can remember what it was or the specs on it now.

the dozer on the cliff edge would be interesting to recover. we used to periodically recover our own stuck dozers (and tractors/trucks/flea graders/guests 4wds's) from time to time- the dozers mostly from being bogged vertically in dams being cleaned out. somewhere here we have a 150ton, 8 pulley, block and tackle that takes 1-1.5 inch steel cables. only downside with it is it need anchor points as heavy as the object being recovered.........still its amazing to see a 2.5 ton tractor pluck a 10 ton piece of bogged machinery plant out of the ground like it was a 100kg trailer........mechanical leverage rules king.

very nice bit of history there mick.
like a gee six
So, I just bought this Patrol….
