63 work continues

Got the patrol home today. Unfortunately i cant start to check it out in full until tonight when my wife gets home. Lots of good work has already been done so I dont think it will take much work to get going (already runs drives and stops just needs some lights etc).

After impatiently waiting to get to the garage to dig in, my wife finally got home and I made a dash. First thing I did was take it around the block. She ran very well, going to give the carb a good clean and do a general tune up just to be safe. Started by checking on fluids lights etc to make a list of what needs done. Next was to get the top off. That was interesting. The darn thing is HEAVY! Got the top of and stored, made a list and game plan for what I want to do with it. Next I began to debate if I wanted to take the bed off. I was mostly looking at taking it off to get to wiring, replace hardware and lastly to give everything a going over. The bed came off with no problem. I started diving into the wiring, got the fuel tank taken care of and some other odds and ends. Lastly was starting to get the floor pans attached and that is about where I stopped. I am still debating if I want to go with a rescue theme or a military theme for this project (opinions are always welcome). Anyhow I got a bit of work done I am hoping to get down again today when everyone else naps (unfortunately I had to spend a good chunk of my evening at a wildland fire). Let me know what you guys think etc!

So far I am leaning towards a rescue theme also. I may just paint it and call it a day though we shall see. I do like my non daily drivers to all be themed though.

Got some more work done on the patrol today. Hoping to get some more done tonight. Lots of sanding and cleaning sheet metal.
Does anyone have any info n which bolts all need to come out to get the doors top and bottom separated? I found some generic info but nothing exact and they aren't coming apart for me. Also looking for some pictures of the rear of the tucks, specifically the tire carrier, lights, and any cool stuff people have done to the bed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I'm very glad you're digging right into it. Ya really didn't waste any time. If I remember right you have to take off the inner door card off and Unbolt the uppers kinda like the rear doors are mounted.

Got some more work done. Rear tail lights are in and marker lights are working. Still going through the turn signal and brake light diagrams to find the best way to wire all that up. Going to be talking to my inspection mechanic in the morning to see what I all need for inspection and make sure that it is there. The bed is back on as well. Norville did a great job with the sheet metal in the front, I made spare templates and got them in as well as the sheet metal in the cab. The front marker light are on now as well. I think that is it. Tomorrow after talking to the mechanic and looking at the turn signal blue prints I am going to finalize my plans for the wiring and do that tommorow evening. Sorry I don't have any pictures to share tonight I will get them up tommorow or after I get some sleep.

Testing out the rescue red paint already? That tub looks vaguely familiar. I like the clamshell tow hook, those are pretty rare. You also ended up with one of the most unique horn buttons on a US Patrol. You've got a lot of work done on it pretty fast.

The front marker lights don't come on with the headlights, so don't beat yourself up trying tho make them.

I have to say the tub is in great shape. The truck overall is in great shape actually. Tanks to Orville for getting good parts!!

I did wonder about the tow hook, don't seem to see many like them in the states. I'd like to get a m416 trailer to tow with this but they are getting harder to find it seems.
Didn't know the horn button was unique?
I have been putting a bit of time into it, I am hoping that when I have to go hand out bandaids to gi joes I can at least take it with me (thankfully I'm not going far this time).
More tonight, I have the wiring diagrams for the turn signal equip and new batteries in the multi meter lol. I am hoping to drive it home after finishing a extensive safety check.
