Re: Replacement parts for Helmar P40 Distributor
Thanks for posting this comprehensive list.
Actually the Pertronix Ignitor kit #1761 also works. It's the one I've installed.
The real advantage of the Ignitor II will come between 3000 and 5000 rpms, so not that much in real terms for the Patrol, with the added cost, although some of the other specs look very interesting.

Sounds like it-
I ordered the 91762 Ignitor II and the plate matches the mounting screw layout of the points plate perfectly, and Esteban confirms that the 1761 does as well.
I did an image comparison on Google of all 4 (1761, 1762, 91761, and 91762) and they all look the same.
The reason I went ahead and paid the extra for the Ingnitor II is for the adaptive dwell control- I figure this will give me some more efficiency and mpg at cruising speeds. I agree that from a power standpoint the benefits are going to be in the higher RPMs, but you never know when some joker in an FJ40 is gonna want to drag race, right...? I need to be prepared.

Re: Replacement parts for Helmar P40 Distributor
Hey Robert i made a CCW 6 cyl HEI using the 289 302 dizzy but i can't get the wobble out. So i went ahead and ordered the Helmar. I would have been nice to get that to work.

man, you should have called me - If you have the HEI configured to work CCW, then I could have sent you my adaptor to use - mine had zero wobble. Let me know if you still want to try it...
