Windshield Profile and Rubber

I need to eventually replace my windshield, because it has a lot of wear, and on top of it, it's of the tempered type (toughened) that shatters into very small pieces. I would like to change to a laminated one.

The rubber is toasted, and crumbles if you try to even lift a little. I tried to see if I could get some measurements for a rubber profile. I'm thinking on the universal type, since I couldn't source an original one here in the States. There seems to be in Australia, but shipping will be expensive.

If someone has a bare frame, I would like some measurements of the windshield frame profile. I did the following drawing as an aid.
I will need measurements B and C. Thanks.

Windshield - 1 pieces (total 146” or 12.67ft)
Perimeter - 146”
Glass - 1/4” (.246”/6.26mm)
Frame (pinchweld) - 1/8” (.131”/3.15mm)
Glass to pinchweld - 1/4” (.246”/6.36mm

Let us know what you find.

Thanks Keith. In my diagram, I need dimensions B and C. I was able to measure the thickness of the frame, and the inside, since a small piece of my rubber can easily be lifted. However, the measurements on the outside and the drawing itself is only schematic.

My 1965 reads 3/4+ for B and 1/2- for C.

Thanks Dave. That will do it.

The next step will be to have the dimensions of the windshield, including radius at the corners, to have one fabricated.

I was checking yesterday at the profiles that Keith posted the numbers. I'm afraid that they're not correct. In any of these profiles, the glass ends up being inline with the pinchweld.

A friend found the following profile that he has installed in his Patrol in Ecuador (Photo rotated for clarity) Tape shows millimeters. Please note the offset between the glass and the pinchweld that's more or less what Keith (Zed) posted previously.

Using the photo program I cut the profile of the above picture and superimposed on the diagram I made before. The right diagram shows how the rubber will look I revised the total thickness of the frame to 1-1/2" (38.1mm):

I'm going to visit my brothers the next week so I probably can see if I can buy the rubber. PM if you want one. Will check if I there's any problems at customs, just in case.

Hello Estaban, can I help you on the windshield rubber? I have a buddy that has a glass shop, i can search through his gasket book and match this up if you would like? Also i have several windshield frames, do you still need some measurements? :D
