I am trying to determine the correct material for use in placement between the fender and firewall. When I dissembled my 1969 Patrol I found that a heavily compressed rubber sheet was cut fit between the two panels. The only thing visible was the cross section of the material between the panels, There was no bead or other "finish" to the cross section.

I've used VW Beetle stuff in the past. It's over 9 years by now, and still in good shape. Some minor trimming needs to be done for the Radiator member due to the sharp angle. Found this link as an example:
