Found a V belt that works great. B-45 industrial v belt. Used on large compressors and such. I just ran downtown and picked one up for $11.00. You can get them online or any manufacturing/industrial place that sells belts. Just call up and ask for a B-45 v belt and if they have it they will know what you mean.

Dayco 24480, L:48” W: 0.75” (19mm) Angle: 38° <-------- use this

Dayco 22470, L:47” W: 0.69” (17.5mm) Angle: 38°(slightly bigger that 5/8") Works good.

The Dayco 22470 is a good choice if you have an alternator with a 5/8" pulley. Somehow the belt will accommodate itself to that pulley and the 3/4" pulleys at the water pump and crankshaft.

The following picture shows the Dayco 22470 installed. I've been using it for about 4 months without a problem. Please note the width. It's 5/8" (16mm). The reason I chose this is because I installed an aftermarket waterpump, and has a small misalignment that can't be corrected. It will need pressing the pulley deeper into its axle, and I might end up trashing it. So I chose this belt because it has more flex than the 3/4". I could tell the high pitch sound the 3/4" was making at high rpm. This one is perfect.

Mike, the pump in the picture was bought in Colombia by a friend of one of my brothers, and my brother brought the pump last year when he came to visit. I still have the box, since the old pump is there. No marks, no brand, nothing. I had this strong feeling that the pump is made in Colombia. I had to grind a little bit the casing, since it didn't want to go under the thermostat housing. Nothing major. I've done 1,300 miles on it by now.

Going to look further into this. Remember, that Colombia is probably after Australia, where most Patrols where imported, and that over the years, Patrols have developed sort of a mythic status. They're still used as workhorses and taxis in rural areas.

I knew that B45 refered to something I had noted in Andrews post....I mistook it was from Napa!

No problem. B means 21/32" wide. 45 means 48". Don't know why they do that but you just take what ever number they have after the B and you add 3" to it to get the length of the belt. So example a B - 52 would be a 55" belt. The 48" belt I got seems to fit in the middle of my adjustment so I went with that one.
