Hi from VIC Australia

Post by SSwampy »

G'day

I've accrued a couple of g60's, both on the rusty side. i think they're both 77 models. One is a LWB tray and the other is a MWB with a fibreglass roof.
I had a great uncle who had a buffalo shooting and processing business in the Northern territory and he operated a fleet of patrols. I have a video he produced in the early seventies. They all appeared to be specially built up using a cut down ute cab mounted on a SWB chassis with a short tray. Some were used to tow trailer loads of buffalo back to the camp across the desert. A trailer load would consist of 6 or 7 buffalo so I imagine that would be a few kilos.

Cheers
Johnno

Welcome to 60Patrol Johnno! :text-welcomewave:

Aren't all 60 series Patrols a little on the rusty side. ;) We'd love to see pictures of yours. Contact Miller and he can add yours to the Aussie Registry.

This is a great story about your great uncle operating a fleet of Patrols. It would be awesome to see the video and any pictures you might have. Thanks for sharing!

The movie is on dvd. Will see if I can edit it. Watching it again I took some measurements against the screen and compared them to the MWD in the paddock and I think they are MWD utes not SWB as I believed.
My great uncle ended up leaving australia to go to Belize where he was one of the pioneers of resort tourism there.

Youtube allows you to upload full length movies now. Maybe look into doing that?

Wowzers, what a great video. Thanks loads Swampy. Unbelievable amount of weight these Patrols hauled. 6 Buffalo on trailer thru country with 3 Drivers. Listen to detail on picking and placement of drivers!
