Points and condenser

Post by npca-keely »

Hi there, I'm havng one heck of a time finding points and a condenser for my '69 Patrol.  I shipped off the distributer to have it "re-built", and it came back looking the same.  Not everyone can be trading the same old parts .... do you have any suggestions for me of where to go or what to do?  I'd really appreciate the feedback. Sidenote:  it probably could use a dist. cap and rotar too.   Thanks- Keely

I have tons of points, condensors, rotors and caps...I even got a brand spanking new ditributor from Nissan. Do you have a water protect or non-water distro?? I said I was not going to sell parts for awhile but this is very easy to deal with...packaging, shipping and so forth is no probs. The points and condensor can be sent in an evenlope! I would be willing to get you a set, email me off the board.                         Ian                                   BTW, before I get bashed on for buying up all this stuff from Nissan I want to say that I was told by Nissan and felt last fall that time was running out for the Patrol. Meaning when stock is gone it is gone forever, so out of fear of never being able to get the stuff I bought as much as I could get my hands on. There was a set of 6 condensors on ebay the other day too....

Mark...I assume since you say "mod" that you know a vac adavnce is not readily available from Nissan. I am working on getting some from Nissan outside the USA but nothing recieved yet. I do not know of a mod you can go to say Napa and get for it. One thing, the water-protect distro is getting much much harder to get parts for...even just a cap for it is hard to come by. The non-water protect is much easier to get items for, I am looking at making this one water proof because it is the whole unit still available from Nissan and they have more....                  Ian

There is an excellent company in California who can fit electronic ignitions into older points and condenser distributers.  I am having my 1963 Hitachi distributer fitted right now.  They guarantee the install for 2.5 years.  Not bad.  A custom fit will run you about $250.     Pertronix 440 East Arrow Highway San Dimas California 909-599-5955   You send them your distributor, and in 6-8 weeks get back a trouble free electronic ingition installed.  You must have a good cap and rotor for this type of install.
