Wierd sounds...

Have anybody had any wierd bearing sounds when letting go of gaspedal driving in 4x4? I checked all bearings in the transfercase and axles. The driveshafts are also ok. If I lock the hubs, but drive in 2 wheel drive then everything is quiet. Nissan Patrol MK 1985 SD33 5 speed Jan-Eric Enlund / Finland

the mq hub lock nuts in the front loosen off causing some sound .this is a common thing with the front end.if u take this apart buy new lock washers that fit betwwen the nuts.the tab breaks off causing the nuts to loosen Post your free ad now! Yahoo! Canada Personals

Dear Jan-Eric,sometimes we miss some minor details like the driveshafts.You could check the universal joints, most of the Patrols universal joints have a place to grease them.They are little bolts that cover the hole for grease-nipples between the crosses of the U-joints.If the noise is severe then it's time to change the U-joints.You can also check the gear-oil level in the transfer-case.Mines made some screeching sound in 4wheel-drive and it was low gear-oil level in the transfer-case.I do hope these info could be of some help to you.
