Need Starter Bad.

Hey Gang, I am in a real need situation here. I can not find a starter for my patrol. Something has gone wrong with the starter and I can not get anyone to fix. I can get the truck to run and drive but, I need a starter. So I can drive it around. Two different guys have said they can not get parts to fix it so theywill not really work on it. They both torn it down only to say that it has a bad switch in the cellinoid (msp?) but, no one can get me a replacement either. So I am screwed. Anybody got any help? Jack

I got mine rebuilt but the guy said he would not guarantee his work on this one because mine was jerryrigged using the original cast part and the guts and housing off of something else, I could try to see what that something else was but I think you would be better off getting a used replacement one. Try Jim Morrow, he might have a spare to sell you, jm100j@netscape.net and good luck.

I wonder if new replacement solenoids are available from dealers in Australia still, that might be another avenue for you to you explore.

The Nissan Part # for the solenoid is: 23343-43300 for the Hitachi Starter solenoid and 23343-43305 for the ISO Hitachi Starter solenoid. Use these numbers for cross reference and any major parts house. I prefer NAPA. If you can get a parts clerk with a little patients I'm sure that there is one out there for you. Gary
