I popped by on my way out of town today and took a look... and in my rush, no pics! Sorry! He inserted 120 thousandths worth of shims on either side of the carrier to replace the thickness of the offset on the original bearing. To him, it was no biggie. Just part of the set up.

Awesome progress John....
Love the lift (I'm still shopping for one for my recently converted tin shed workshop)
Axle rebuilds make me cringe- there is no more easy way to get covered in sticky, disgusting grease... yuck.
Also- you are only 2 pages away from hitting 100 on your family Patrol thread.. How awesome is that ?!?

If it makes you feel any better (or worse?) I had changed the posts per page setting from 20 to 10 a couple months ago for performance reasons. So you used to only have half as many pages.

Lookie waht just came home! A rebuilt axle and a couple hundred pounds of scrap!
Very exciting! Rebuilt and ready for install! - Well, custom disk brakes, then install!
I'll be posting a list of give-away-or-to-the-dump parts soon - stay tuned!

Just a quick update -- I dropped off THREE, yes three, disk brake rotors at a local machine shop (American River Machine in Auburn, CA) to have the centers opened up to fit the hub. Should be ready by Monday.
Why three? I have two brand new rotors and one that has seen some weather so it's rusty. This way I can use the rusty one as an R&D prototype without worry (e.g. I can clamp to it, drill it, whatever knowing that I it's just for R&D.
Anyway, happy Thursday!
