Good morning Patrol Whisperers. please consider our riddle for the day.

That attached pic shows what Rafael removed from my 63. Overnight Greg at 4WD says he doesn't have a replacement and had never seen one like it.

We know the 63 was substantially rebuilt in the late 1990s. Did they replace the wheel cylinders back then withoff spec wheel cylinders?

So I have the following questions:
A). Is the one we removed OEM? If so, are those available anywhere?
B). Given we have the "typical" ones from Greg what other equipment can I buy to make use of those. A more modern drum? I'll buy, just point me in the right direction.

Patrol in waiting,
L60Boerne

The new wheel cylinder on the left is for the front, right or left I'm not sure. The old cylinder on the right is correct for the rear.

You should have received 6 wheel cylinders: 4 for the front and 2 for the rear. The ones for the front are side specific.

Take a look at the picture in his listing, the rear wheel cylinder is correct and looks like the one in your picture: http://www.ebay.com/itm/331679339711?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

RiverPatrol, Once again you have saved my bacon. I'm in Banff so I'm just reporting the news as Rafael broadcasts it.

Sorry we are off the trail so often. Your winch must be overheating.

RiverPatrol,

This is what we received from Greg. He seems to not understand how this is not a complete order. Has anyone else communicated with him in a way that gets the rear wheel wheel cylinders?
Thanks in advance,
L60Boerne

Those are just for the front. They didn't send you the rear ones. Show him the eBay listing that I linked above; those are for the rear.

Thank you RiverPatrol, I did that earlier today. I'm waiting for a reply. I'm sure it will work out. Your link settled everything.
Kind regards,

Did you ever find any brake lines? I started on the front brakes on my 63. I want to replace the 2 short steel lines and the flex line on both sides in the front as well as the flex line that drops to the axle. The rear will follow after the front is done.

Replacing the short steel lines can be tricky. The angles on them have to be absolutely perfect, otherwise connecting them to the wheel cylinder is a bear.

Check my build thread, I remade all mine out of stainless. Wasn't too bad really.
