This weekend I replaced the factory shocks with these: Monroe 31069 MONRO-MATIC PLUS. Same for front and rear. I did have to slightly shave the the upper outside grommet to get the nut to start on the threads.

I also replaced the stabilizer bar bushings with these: Energy Suspension 9.5124R 20mm Stabilizer Bushing. Same for front and rear. The grommet doesn't permit you to use the original bracket. On the rear all 4 bolts broke as careful as I tried to be. The welded nuts are on the inside of the enclosed frame, so I couldn't access them. Also, the leaf spring is in the way of getting a good angle to drill out the bolts. I was too lazy to remove the whole rear end to access the broken bolts. I welded them on...we'll see if it holds. One of the bolts broke on the front too. While drilling it out the bit cut a short brake line that I had to bend in several spots to fit into shape. So, that delayed my progress a good bit.

This isn't on the parts list, but these sway bar end link grommets work if you shave them down a bit. Energy Suspension 9.8106G End Link Grommet. I shaved them with a belt sander just to shorten them enough to get access to the threads. The inside diameter is perfect for the bolt size.

All of the parts replaced were original, so there was a lot of grown man work getting stuff disconnected.

Not over one week but been updating the truck here and there as time goes on and, most importantly, money allows.

Getting the truck more DD friendly and ready for state inspections I finally got windshield wipers & new headlights installed. The headlights were a bit of a PITA as I had to cut the stock light housings since the LEDs are much deeper. I purchased another pair though so that it can go back to stock if I ever decide to do so.

I love the DRLs and they're much brighter than stock (obviously).

Also cleaned up some electrical while getting the oil temp/fuel gauge and the license plate light I installed forever ago working. Got sick and tired of not knowing how much further I could go and the wiring on this truck is in need of a major overhaul.

Since there's no space in the garage nor do I want to tackle that yet (I know if I do one thing will lead to another and no funds for that rabbit hole) I have to settle for cleaning it all up a little bit at a time.

Also finally cleaned up my terrible wiring job and fixed the timing. It was way too advanced but fixing that caused the carb to be out of tune, so I still need to do some adjustments. Even so, it's starting up faster and idling more smoothly.

Lastly got some new wheels as the Toyota wheels and crappy tires that were on there looked terrible.

I put off road bumpers on my Patrol because I needed extra protection, especially when going to the outskirts.

Last week I ordered an Engine Gasket Kit (complete) from Rockauto. I was hesitant but ordered it anyway, for a couple of reasons:

- It was made in Spain were they never got this engine model to begin with,
- It was the only one remaining...

Today it arrived! Good packaging from the manufacturer and good packaging from Rockauto. And a perfect set!

The part is AJUSA 50130900. Please keep it for future reference. Hope it comes back in stock at Rockauto.
