Not at all! Good one.

Models sent to Swizerland (Australua ?) had some emissions related stuff attached to it. Probably cheaper to do one casting and then machine what was needed.

Water pump back plate? As for the hole, maybe some sort of bypass or bleed system?

You are correct, Paul. I am not sure why the small hole. It would be interesting to find out the engineering reasons behind the hole. Bleed sounds like a good one.

I thought this was going to be a big problem when I pulled it out and cleaned it. A sheet metal shop right up the road made me a new one out of stainless steel for a very reasonable price.
