NT 60 Patrol hunting rig project

I took down the gumtree add as we'd had no replies.

There's more G60 wanted adds than for sales adds on Gumtree

. I've had some luck with talking to people and local notice boards. We managed to get a p40 engine workshop manual over the weekend and what seems to be a crank handle, but it looks too flimsy as we were expecting something more solid. There was also an old carby and dizzy in a box along with some light lenses and relays. Not sure if they are all Nissan but the carby, dizzy and at least 2 of the lenses are Nissan parts. But the workshop manual was worth the drive and beers we swapped for it alone.

P engine in these ol girls.. Not P40 but I'm sure the P Engine Police will chime in and set you straight

The crank handle is pretty solid. If its flimsy its not the right one sorry to say!

Good score on the other goodies, I like it when I find items through other avenues not just on eBay etc. seems a bit more of a challenge.

Tripod - great score on the service manual. We also have copies of that and other service manuals, as well as parts manuals, owner's manuals, sales brochures, service charts and much more available for you to download anytime you'd like.

ahhaahah it's pretty funny reading on here some mornings. Don't worry I know all about rivet counters and sticklers for details...........did I say I make Architectural models for a living? I rekon I've met my share of detail freaks..... So in order to preserve, your obviously very high, standards i'll correct myself in the future regarding the type of engine it is......if I can remember because I never worried too much about the details and rather went straight in.

I like the manual maily because I can see the pictures, I found the one of these that I downloaded was quite dark, but it's true you guys have a great collection of info on this site.

No joy on the brakes yet, still trying.

not sure if you still need the hubs, but neil my mates got a set still work ok as far I can tell, he said $20 + postage and there yours

Gday Michael, thanks for the offer but I rekon we should be set for hubs now. I just negotiated a 78 G60 with spare gearbox for a $100. It has hubs on it so i'll check them first when we get it home. If they're duds the offer of $20 sounds pretty good so i'll let you know. Also received your email about the housing. Will reply later but first need to deal with a new clutch in the GQ......that's going to dent my budget for a few weeks.

An update on the red shorty.......We got the brake drum off finally and rebuilt the pistons, pads looked fine and the drum had no bad wear grooves in it so that will go back on after we grease up the wheel bearings and hub.

Having trouble getting the clutch system to bleed properly. Tried the original master cylinder we'd rebuilt (was scored up pretty badly but we gave it a go anyway) but there was no pressure holding in the system so we tried the master from the G60 (plastic res. version) and it will now hold pressure but if the pedal comes all the way out the whole system looses all its pressure again and the pedal needs to be pumped.......have let it sit for a couple of days now incase we'd bubbled up the oil and there was still air trapped in the system. Will give it a go again in the morning tomorrow if its not raining. Could this be because the pedal stopper adjustment is missing or to far out? Anyone else had these symptoms?
When we sort the bleed out we'll have our fingers crossed hoping that the clutch plate hasn't stuck itself to the flywheel..........

Cleaned up the spare wheel carrier to paint it but first will weld up a couple of small stress cracks. It will be cool on the red one when its finished. How tough is the steel hinge pin!! One nice solid piece of steel.

The 'crank' handle we got is probably not the right thing, very certain that it's nothing more than an old jack handle.

So we're still a little away from driving the red one but it's getting there slowly. She starts and idles a lot nicer now
too so I might get out the camera again and make a better video.

The old bloke also rekons that the new 78 G60 ran when he got it so that could be another runner for the future!

I've been trying to upload some more pictures, a series on the brakes, and a set of our second car but each time it's nearly ready I get a page unavailable notice and all the pictures I've uploaded are gone. I've tried several times this morning with no luck. Might have a go again tomorrow but this has happened a few times when I've tried to post pictures. Gets very time consuming.......

Yes i totally agree, with the problem adding photos, then it says page cannot be displayed, it really ticks me off aswell,as it is a very time consuming, techsperts may have to look into it
