Re: Greetings from Missouri
The round handle should be pulled out away from the door towards the front of the vehicle and that in turn lifts the pin in the bottom of the door. If that all fails, then you will need to remove the 4 small screws from the unit and slide it up to free the door...

Re: Greetings from Missouri

Be a bit ginger with the ring, it is brass.
In your text, I did not read anything to do with the main lever on the outside of the door behind spare...it flips side to side.
Very wise to save all. There are things I did not even think belong on a Patrol in my acquired junk only to find them important.
Good luck.

I never get sick of seeing that sandblasted handle Dave!
Mark, you'll find plenty more rusted bolts along the way. Plenty of bleeding knuckles and snapped bolts too!
Taking the body off the frame is pretty straight forward but as you have noticed rusted bolts can slow you down. The hardest part I found was removing the floor. This is when you'll strip a few bolts where it attaches to the firewall and tub.
Good luck, and make sure you take plenty of picks along the way!,

Not ghetto at all, I've transported at least 3 patrols like this. I've also wired and duct taped doors shut just to get it homeShowMePatrol wrote:Oh....by the way, the yellow strap over the hood looks kinda Ghetto by I didn't want the Frackin hood coming open as I motored down the road....

Wow! Thanks for all the quick feedback. This is an awesome group! Makes sense....I thought the mechanism worked like that. I didn't crawl up there to get a better view but understand now. The lever and components behind the spare are all there and functional. Ordered a new ignition switch last night as the key was missing from mine. Eager to put power to it and to begin exploring. I will take plenty of pictures.

I hope swerve chimes in cause he is an advocate of keeping it a runner till you really get to know it. I know you said you will pull the body but unless horrific leave it be for a bit anf concentrate on the mechanics.....there is so much to do. I think you have a nice Patrol there and look forward to seeing this project unfold.
I think I was impressed with the way it looked clean/blasted and that it was not just made of steel. Well designed, good try but reality is they still get hammered.
I guess I have used this one a few times......too many!miller wrote:I never get sick of seeing that sandblasted handle Dave!

Agree with leaving the body on, if she
Fires and can be driven I'd leave the body off resto for another time because you can guarantee that once you start you'll find it hard to stop. There is always more work and rust to be dealt with once you start digging.
Dave I wasn't being sarcastic, I really do like that pic!

Ahhh......no, the body will stay on for the short-term or longer (probably much longer). I was just wondering if it were a weekend job to remove the body or are we talking a week.

Re: Greetings from Missouri
I'm pulling the bed off my plow patrol now. 4 bigger bolts , one in each corner. And a hand full of 3/8" up under the seats and she's ready to pull.. Lights , the fuel filler and the last two bolts above the hitch. I'm pretty sure it can be removed witha a 2x4 and a engine hoist.
(insert clever saying here)
