Another question. My fuel tank has a vapor outlet. Currently it is just open. I assume it should have a pipe on it to take the vapor somewhere. My 1968 G60 doesn't seem to have any emission controls on it. So where should the vapor pipe go? Also surely in hot weather the petrol will just vaporize! Can I close of the vapor outlet or will it cause problems?

The vapor outlet (also ventilation) will connect back to the filler neck. See any of the parts catalogs and you'll see it very clearly. The following is from an online parts manual:

If you block this outlet, it will be very difficult to fill the tank, since the air displaced doesn't have a good way to go. Please note also that the pipe connection at the filler neck is probably clogged with debris sent by the wheel if the hose was not attached there.

That just looks like a standard bottle jack but I could be wrong. As far as the water pump I don't believe it is for the p series engine but again I also could be wrong .

I'm sorry to say that neither is for a Patrol. Any year.

ehh, they were just in a box. pump might fit the chevy, some other chevy parts were in the box.

I am on a quest for a very specific hydraulic bottle jack that originally came in imported Nissan/Datsun vehicles in the 1960's. Nissan imported about 5000 vehicles into the US that would have come with this style of jack, so I have to imagine that some number of these jacks are still out there in garages, or in vintage tool collections, etc. I need it for a restoration project I am working on...

The jack is a fairly standard size, 1.5 ton bottle jack, about 8 inches tall, that has the manufacturer's name "TAKUBO" cast into the base.

I am willing to pay handsomely (much more than a rusty old bottle jack is worth ) to anyone who helps me find this jack... I have scoured all the antique and junk shops in my area, and figured that getting my search out on some Internet forums might help me in my search.

Radiator cap pressure (PSI)

I've read in the forum that the radiator cap should be 7 PSI.

I'm after a new radiator cap and all the ones I have found are rated at 13 psi. I guess they will work but will they cause water leaks etc?

I will not go to a 13 psi radiator cap, but if that's the only choice you face, make sure to put a 50/50 coolant like Prestone. It will increase the boiling point so inside pressure in the system will seldom reach 13 psi.

Fwiw...when I had the radiator for my '74 refurbished the older bloke running the radiator shop said the tanks were likely leaking because of the 13PSI cap - he insisted I should use a 7PSI cap since that's what the radiator was designed for...his argument seemed reasonable - "you wouldn't feel comfortable putting 60PSI in your car tires so why would you double the pressure in your cooling system ?" I have dealt with him several times since and it has become apparent that he does know his stuff - pity he'll be retiring soon !

I found a radiator cap on-line. A Tridon CN0750. 7psi. About $9. Its a non-returning one ie no reservoir.
