Those mirrors look pretty small, you probably wouldn't get much visibility from them. Have you looked into the Toyota FJ40 mirrors? They mount perfectly on the windshield hinge, no alteration needed. https://www.sor.com/cat166.sor#166-01A

I picked up a new to me frame from Mad4haws yesterday! It is a beauty and he did a 5 hour round trip to help split the driving I can`t thank him enough for saving my build. My 8 foot trailer was not the best option. My 4 banger `99 wrangler with 270,000 miles was a trooper and got her back to her new home where stripping off the surface rust and a new coat of paint is the next order of business.



I pulled my gas tank on Friday and it is rusty and covered in plastic resin. I`m going to do the CJ5 tank to not run the risk of it getting back together and it leaking.

Today I`m pulling the springs and axles out. Wish me luck!

It was a win win for everyone. Mostly my spouse I think. I satisfied my promise to her of having this thing disappear before the end of summer. She was a real sport about it and didn't hastle me once about it being in the driveway. I definately married up. Bonus is that it's going to be re-purposed and like other parts will soon find their way back onto a functioning vehicle. Just so I remember, here's what it looked like on Saturday before making the trip down to Pennsylvania to its new home: Now all i have to do is clean up the driveway from the "spillage" that occurred when I was picking off the pieces.

Hello Patrol`ers!

I have a question on the rear springs. I am having a local spring shop make me new springs for the Patrol. they discovered that at some point, someone replaced one of the leafs in my rear springs with something out of another vehicle (perhaps a chevy van).

Before I order the new springs I would like to confirm two things on the rear springs:

1) Ply count (number of leafs)

2) Overall pack thickness

I am getting ready to move out to Ohio, and in the coming weeks I plan to make a long post about all the progress that has been made on my Patrol. As soon as I get the springs and engine back I can put together a rolling frame

I took a few months off while I started a new job and moved to Ohio. I`m getting the garage set up and by the end of the month I will have 2 Patrols here to get back on the road. The first one is the one that you are all familiar with me having, but I also picked up the one for sale in Michigan for a good price to hopefully get back on the road after I complete My 1971 Patrol.

I have a question on the springs, would someone be willing to measure the length from the center stud in the rear springs to the front eye of the spring? I am having a bit of confusion with the company I am having make my springs, and need this measurement. Does anyone know if there is a way to get the shackle hangers? I see that dobinsons has sk45-029 for the 1980`s Patrol`s but was unsure if they were the same fit?

I look forward to posting pictures if I can get the uploading issue figured out, before I was able to upload onto Internet explorer, but now I am unable to do that either.

You might need to resize your pictures to upload.

I measured with the Patrol sitting normally.
My Tape measure shows 23 1/2" from center of front pin to the bolt through the leaves at the axle.
I measured through the air (not along the curve) to where I guessed the top leaf center hole to be.
If you need more accuracy, I may have a removed top leaf stashed at another site.

Hello Patroler`s!

I now have a 1967 Patrol with a (mostly there) soft top frame sitting in my garage.

I need to swap the steering box from the original Patrol frame to the new to me Patrol frame. What is the best way to remove the steering column? Is it to remove the steering wheel, or disconnect the shaft from the box?

As always your input is greatly appreciated!
