Lots of changes going on with the Ratpatrol. Put some new boots on the old dog. Goodyear Kevlar MTR 235-85-16, wheels from a parts rig.

Re: 66 RatPatrol
Those are great tires. I have them on my '69 and they rock.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Re: 66 RatPatrol
Ive said it before, the P78 and PR78 Buckshot Mdders and CO-OP Grip Spur tires were the best mud tires of their day. Gateway Tire, here in Mississippi developed those tires. A few years back, they sold the molds to a company in asia, I think. However, I heard, the main store in Jackson was ordering several sets from time to time. I'd love to have a set for one of my Patrols, or Jeep, or Frontier even!
How do you like the 235-85 16 size?

Re: 66 RatPatrol
The 285s are great for a stock Patrol. I have not had a chance to test them out off road yet, but I'm sure they will work. They don't rub like those big buckshots on my uncut fenders. I saw some Buckshots on ebay but they were bias-ply? The Patrol is darty enough without adding bias-ply tires.mdawg4x4 wrote:Ive said it before, the P78 and PR78 Buckshot Mdders and CO-OP Grip Spur tires were the best mud tires of their day. Re: 66 RatPatrol
There have been sets of bias ply buckshots on e-bay that are blemished. They have the lettering on the side wall ground off. The last ones I saw stated not for road use. Made me wonder what was wrong with them.
I was curious as to whether they would rub on the rear. I was thinking the Wild Country Radial MTX or the Super Swamper IROK. I really like the IROK, but it is bias ply tire.
