I am trying hard to ignore my intense skepticism and trust that this is not a scam. I suggested that he set up PayPal/Venmo or something similar to ease future transactions.
Rest at ease. Everything will be good.

The canvas top looks really nice. It is based on the 1979-80 G61 Patrol. The rolling side panels are a good change to the previous model. Both look almost the same, but the fact that you'll be able to roll up the sides when needed is great. Something impossible to do with the older style.

Also - both he and I realize that the yellow truck is a MWB and mine is a SWB, so no need to worry.

However, I have a couple questions for the experts about the original fasteners for the soft top:
Are original fasteners available for purchase and, if so, from where and what is the part# or name?
If not, is there any similar part that can be substituted?

Thanks in advance.
David

I think you should ask them to send the corresponding fasteners needed. Otherwise they might not match. I'm sure they probably include them anyways.

I have this reference in my notes. I have not yet purchased from them, but the catalog is extensive and you'll have no trouble finding the fasteners if needed:

Not yet, but soon. I received this photo today showing that the metal is painted, and everything is packed up and ready to go. He is getting the shipping estimate now.

UPDATE:
Air freight to California was $1150 ( :o - no, ground shipping wasn't cheaper), so combined with the $1330 for the canvas+rails+overdoorsheetmetal, the total was $2480. I expect to pay duty, too. Your mileage may vary.
I just sent the payment via Western Union and am awaiting my ETA -- will advise and share photos when I receive the packages.

Greetings,

That price seems reasonable to me. I just spent $3,000 to put a tow hitch on my RR and $9,600 to replace the oil cooler and radiator/cooling system in my diesel jeep for known systemic problem my dealership failed to preemptively fix. Both of these prices were fixes at the respective dealership.

We have it so good getting these old rigs running. Everyone helps and it makes you feel good to get so much support from well intentioned folks.........then you go to the dealerships and costs are breathtaking.

Thanks for the thread. I'll bet the new source for soft tops in Columbia will be wonderful, just as Raul was.

Rolling and Patrolling,

thats unfortunate on the shipping. I think the last guy was shipping for $300. I guess everything is expensive these days.
