If anyone can "get er done", it would be you with the support from this forum. What do you think plugged it up? Just goo settling? It sounds great! I gotta say hearing that motor run gets my motor running too. Well done. I had a great time with both of mine over the last couple of weeks.

We very well might get Santa's Sleigh up to Lake City this July 4th for a Red, White and Blue Patrol.

At this point you only need brakes. If those works and it is still yours in late June this year or next I think it will sell in Lake City, which has become an off roading mecca.

What a tremendous Patrol to start tinkering with.

Indeed, yet another testament to the value of this forum.

As for what plugged it all I can guess is hardened goo. I'm sure the tank could use a good cleaning. It does need the carb rebuilt still, the ethanol in our gas has hardened the accelerator pump as I had predicted. The brakes are good! There is a slow leak somewhere because the master was empty when I first started this endeavor. I had filled the fluid and it hasn't gone down. When I got it running yesterday I put in in gear and moved it forward and back and the brakes worked fine. The first touch of the pedal was a little soft but one pump hardened it. This says a fluid leak needs to be addressed and bleeding the lines will correct the soft pedal.

That 68 might be the best of the years. First, you have the banjo steering wheel, which to me is must. Then you got past the 66 model so the doors actually shut, which really erks me about my 66. Then you have the more modern gauge cluster and speedo which are much easier to replace. I don't dig the seats too much but they sure look comfy.

Remind me again, what other parts DO NOT interchange with my warehouse of 65 parts? I know the doors and sheet metal around them are different.

Just doing some thinking.

The '68 was kind of a transition model - keeping the banjo steering wheel and individual wiper motors but adapting the new style seats and hydraulic clutch among other changes. The seats are more comfortable than the early seats, if they are reinforced correctly. Many body style changes as well.

The differences are too vast to list here, it would probably be easier to list what parts ARE interchangeable. Pretty much everything mechanical is interchangeable.
